To plant or not to plant

It’s that strange time of year where you want your garden to be putting out huge, healthy veggies but it can’t because the blasted weather is 48 degrees and pouring rain. In some parts of the country I’m sure there are people who have been growing for a couple of months but here in Montana we are just at the beginning or maybe a few weeks into the growing season. I’m sure some people have had their gardens in and go out and baby them, cover them if it gets cool and all that but I’m not one of those people. I just want to put my plants out and have them grow. I don’t want to bring them in and out, I don’t have time. One of my co-workers said he feels like this was a late planting year, maybe it was because we still had snow in late March and it was so bitterly cold so late this year that ground didn’t thaw until the middle of April. Who knows for sure. All I know is I’m not sure if I will go the Farmers Market this weekend because it is cold, damp and raining. But I want to buy some mature starts so I probably should go anyway. I want to get my mini garden started and it is supposed to clear up and be nicer in the middle of next week. This time of year can be so fickle, I’m sure once the clouds clear away from the mountains there will snow again in the higher elevations. I want to be able to throw open the windows and smell the herbs, go out and pick tomatoes. I want to be able to cook fresher, healthier food. Summer food. Yummy salads that are a whole meal. Pasta with fresh tomatoes, basil and just a little balsamic vinegar. I know it will get there and that I shouldn’t be procrastinate but honestly who wants to be out in the cold rain? I will just have to decide tomorrow morning.♥♥♥
