Fair Food

I went to the Western Montana Fair last night. To play Bingo. Why? Because my husband was calling Bingo for the Soroptimists. It was a lot of fun, even though I didn’t win a game. I’m not kidding you, not one single game. But while I was there not winning a single game of Bingo, I did get to see a variety of different Fair Foods. The favorites it seemed last night were the TaterPigs. What is a TaterPig, well it’s this interesting mix of a sausage stuffed into a baked potato, served with sour cream, cheese and butter. The line was incredibly long. There were a couple of other long lines, one belonged to the Viking. The Viking is a large, kind of oblong “meatball” that is seasoned with Scandinavian spices, which I’m guessing would be heavy on caraway, dill and maybe cardamom,Ā  then deep fried.Ā  It doesn’t appeal to me at all but a lot of people were in line and all night long. The other long line was for the Lemondairy and or the Huckleberry Jamboree booth. Which I was more than happy to wait for. Lemondairy is a frozen lemonade concentrate with vanilla soft serve. Those simple words don’t even begin to describe it’s awesomeness. I haven’t tried the Huckleberry Jamboree but it looks like the same as the Lemondairy but with Huckleberries, meh. Most all of the food booths at the Western MT Fair are run as non-profit fundraisers for churches, high-school bands, the Sons of Norway, and other groups like that. It was a lot of fun to be there last night and I might try to convince the husband to go back at least one more time even though we have a busy rest of the week and weekend because I never got to try the Indian Frybread šŸ™‚ If your ever in Missoula during the summer you need to look up Lemondairy on Facebook and find out where they will be at. It is so worth it!♄
